Who should get Reiki?

Anyone and everyone should receive Reiki healing. Reiki is a gentle practice that supports the body’s natural healing processes. Reiki healing promotes connection and synergy within the body. This means it is safe and beneficial to give Reiki to anyone, in all situations, as long as the person is open to receiving it.

How is a Reiki healing session given?

In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Each position is held for a few minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position.

How does Reiki work?

A Science-based explanation: Reiki healing all begins with a principle called energetic resonance. In essence, it’s the tendency for energy systems to synchronize and resonate and operate at similar frequencies. As Albert Einstein said, “Everything is Energy.” This profound statement aligns perfectly with the principle of energetic resonance and helps explain how Reiki works on an energetic level. All living things have life force energy that flows in and around their bodies. When a person is affected by stress and trauma, the quality of their energetic vibration of that life force energy lowers. Over time if that is not rebalanced, we can actually begin to see symptoms. In the context of Reiki, resonance occurs when the practitioner, who is attuned to the higher vibrational frequency of Reiki energy, interacts with the client’s energy field. The client’s energy, which may be disrupted due to stress, trauma, illness or an emotional disturbance, begins to align with the balanced frequency of the Reiki energy. The more stable vibration influences the less stable one.

Is Reiki religious?

Although Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion. Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have. They are free to continue believing anything they choose and are encouraged to make their own decisions concerning the nature of their religious practices. Clients may be of any religion or belief system.
